The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced plans for the 2025/2026 Regional Women’s Championship, a key qualifying tournament for promotion to the Women’s Premier League.

Scheduled to take place from May 14 to May 23, the competition will feature top clubs from across Ghana’s regions competing for places in the country’s elite women’s division.

The tournament will be played in two zones to ensure a balanced and competitive format. The southern sector will be hosted at the Tuba Astro Turf in Kasoa, while matches in the northern zone will take place at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.

According to the GFA’s Competitions Department, the dual-venue arrangement is designed to reduce travel burdens on teams while encouraging broader participation from across the country.

The Regional Women’s Championship is considered a vital component in the development of women’s football in Ghana, providing a structured pathway for emerging clubs to reach the top tier.

Participating teams are yet to be confirmed, with several regional competitions still ongoing. Final lists are expected to be announced ahead of the tournament’s kickoff next month.
