The Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies at the University of Ghana, in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association, is set to organize a License ‘D’ coaching course aimed at developing the next generation of football coaches.

The eight-day programme is scheduled to take place from May 4 to May 11, 2026, at the university’s ultramodern lecture theatre in Accra.

The course is primarily targeted at students studying Physical Education and Sport Studies at the University of Ghana, as well as interested participants from other universities who wish to pursue a career in football coaching.

According to organizers, the initiative forms part of the department’s mandate to equip students with practical knowledge aligned with modern coaching trends, while providing a pathway into the professional sporting world.

Participants will undergo intensive training, combining both theoretical lessons in the classroom and practical sessions on the field. At the end of the programme, candidates will be assessed through practical evaluations and written examinations.

Successful participants will be awarded the License ‘D’ coaching certificate, enabling them to begin professional coaching.

The programme also aligns with the Ghana Football School’s objective of expanding grassroots football development nationwide.
