The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association is set to hold an emergency meeting today, April 10, 2026, with the appointment of a new Black Stars head coach expected to top the agenda.

The meeting follows the dismissal of Otto Addo after Ghana’s back-to-back defeats to Austria and Germany in last month’s international friendlies. The results have intensified concerns over the team’s progress, especially with the 2026 FIFA World Cup fast approaching.

With less than three months until the tournament in North America, the GFA faces mounting pressure to appoint a substantive coach to lead preparations. Several experienced names, including Carlos Queiroz, Paulo Bento and Fernando Santos, have been linked to the role.

The Executive Council is expected to deliberate on the options and agree on a preferred candidate before engaging government for final approval.

Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has indicated that the new coach could be unveiled by April 13.

Following the appointment, Ghana will resume preparations in May with friendlies against Mexico and Wales ahead of their World Cup campaign in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
