Highlife legend Paulina Oduro has clarified recent reports suggesting that she claimed Kofi Kinaata is “bigger” than the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

Speaking on ShowBiz Today on Empire 102.7 FM, she dismissed the misrepresentation of her words and called on bloggers to report accurately.

“Oh, Chaley! I think these bloggers should get their facts right,” she stated. “What I actually said was that it’s not a big deal.

“Kofi is loved all over Ghana; he’s a big artiste and should not be worried about whether he’s nominated or not.

“TGMA has been around for a long time; Kofi can never be bigger than that show. But as an artiste, he is big!”

The misunderstanding arose after Kofi Kinaata was surprisingly left out of the Artiste of the Year category for the 26th TGMA, despite multiple nominations fueled by the success of his Kofi oo Kofi EP.

Disappointed fans voiced their frustration, and Paulina Oduro, in encouraging the artist, was misquoted by some blogs, leading to online backlash.

With this clarification, she hopes to put the issue to rest, emphasizing that while Kinaata is undoubtedly a major artist, the TGMA remains an important institution in Ghana’s music industry.
