Former Ghana FA Vice-President George Afriyie has launched a strong criticism of the Ghana Football Association over its decision to convert the official residence meant for the Black Stars head coach into offices for the technical directorate.
His comments come just days after the FA unveiled Carlos Queiroz as the new coach of the senior men national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reports indicate that the five-bedroom apartment located at Airport Residential in Accra, which traditionally serves as the coach’s residence, is currently being used for administrative purposes.
As a result, Queiroz is expected to stay in a hotel during his four-month contract period leading up to the World Cup, pending any further decision by the FA.
Speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM, Afriyie did not hold back in his assessment of the situation, describing the move as unacceptable.
“You will be foolish to defend Ghana Football Association’s decision to use Black Stars coach’s residence as a technical directorate office. Anyone who defends this act is foolish. I stand by my words,” he stated.
The remarks have sparked fresh debate around the FA’s handling of key logistics as the national team prepares for the global tournament, with many questioning whether the decision reflects the level of professionalism expected at that stage.
