Employees of GCB Bank PLC have donated a baby incubator and other essential medical equipment and supplies worth GH₵100,000 to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Child Health Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The other items include baby bassinets, oxygen tanks, resuscitation bags, infrared thermometers and pulse oximeters.

The intervention will support the care of premature and critically ill newborns and forms part of 95 community projects being undertaken nationwide through GCB’s 2026 Staff Community Impact Programme aimed at impacting one million Ghanaians.

The donation was made possible by employees from the Special Projects and Investor Relations, Board Secretariat and Legal Services teams.

After engaging the hospital to understand the NICU’s most pressing needs, the employees mobilised resources to provide equipment that would make a practical difference to newborn care.

The Staff Community Impact Programme brings together more than 4,500 GCB employees in 95 groups to implement 95 community projects across Ghana.

Speaking about the initiative, Ms Cynthia Ofori Dwumfuo, Chief Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Officer of GCB Bank, said the programme would help the Bank deepen its approach to corporate social responsibility by placing employees and community needs at its heart.

Mr Truedy Osae, Head of Legal and Executive Committee Member of GCB Bank, said the group selected NICU because of the critical care it provides to newborns at one of the most vulnerable stages of life.

Receiving the items, Mr Benjamin Nkansah, Administrator, and Ms Evelyn Kumah, Chief Nursing Officer of the Child Health Department, expressed their appreciation to the GCB employees for the support.

“We are grateful to the GCB staff members for taking the time to understand the needs of the NICU and responding with this important equipment. Support of this nature strengthens the environment in which our healthcare professionals care for vulnerable newborns and their families.”

The Korle Bu donation is one of several GCB Staff CSR stories that will highlight the contribution of employees and the communities they are supporting across the country.

The Staff Community Impact Programme is GCB Bank’s nationwide employee led community initiative. It brings together more than 4,500 employees in 95 groups to undertake 95 community projects across Ghana.

The projects cover healthcare, education, water and sanitation, social protection, environmental sustainability, youth development, community safety and infrastructure. Together, the interventions are expected to positively impact up to one million lives.
