Gabon striker Aaron Boupendza has lost his life after falling from the eleventh floor of his apartment in China on April 16, 2025.

The tragic news was confirmed by coach Marius Șumudică, with whom Boupendza had worked during his time in Turkey.

Reports indicate that the deceased player had a misunderstanding with his brother before the fall occurred.

Chinese security officials have begun a thorough investigation into the case, considering suicide, accidental fall, or foul play as possible causes of the fatal incident.

Boupendza gained popularity in global football during the 2020/2021 season in the Turkish Super League, where he won the top scorer award with 22 goals for Hatayspor.

He played for clubs in France, Qatar, Romania, Turkey, the United States, and most recently in China for Zhejiang FC.

Boupendza represented Gabon in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) on several occasions, scoring 8 goals in 34 appearances.
