The Ga Mantse, King Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has pledged his support to the second edition of the Democracy Cup organized by the Parliament of Ghana.

King Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II after pledging his support announced that he will buy 1,000 tickets to help boast attendance for the game between the two glamorous clubs in his city.

The Ga Mantse who urged Ghanaians not to take the country’s democracy for granted made this pledge at the Democracy Cup trophy presentation at his Palace on the afternoon of Friday, August 29, 2025.

“We should not take our democracy for granted, I’m supporting the Democracy Cup with 1,000 tickets,” King Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II said as captured by GhanaWeb Sports.

The Democracy Cup, instituted by the Speaker of Parliament in 2024, has quickly grown into more than just a football fixture. It has become a symbol of national cohesion, bringing together leaders, football lovers, and the public under one banner.

This year’s edition will be staged on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Legon Stadium, where Accra giants Hearts of Oak will face off against city rivals Great Olympics.

Before the main clash, there will be a curtain-raiser between Parliament and the Judiciary, with Parliament’s team captained by Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga.

In the days leading up to the tournament, the Democracy Cup trophy is being paraded across the capital.

Having made a stop at the Military High Command and the NCCE headquarters, it will next be presented to the president at the Jubilee House on September 1, before finally being placed on the big stage for the football battle ahead.
