Equatorial Guinea’s former Director General of the National Agency for Financial Investigation (ANIF), Baltasar Ebang Engonga, has become a viral sensation on social media following a scandal involving over 400 leaked adult videos.

The scandal has led to his dismissal and sparked widespread public outrage.

Engonga was removed from office after accusations surfaced about “irregularities committed in the exercise of his functions” and behavior deemed inappropriate for public office. His dismissal was confirmed in Decree No. 118/2024, issued on November 4, which cited both professional misconduct and “inappropriate family and social behavior.”

The investigation reportedly uncovered over 400 videos recorded in Engonga’s office, allegedly involving the wives and relatives of high-ranking officials, including ministers and police officers.

The shocking discovery has triggered a wave of public anger and swift government action to address the scandal.

Social media users have since flooded platforms with reactions, turning Engonga into an unexpected internet icon.

Many users have ironically praised his “stamina,” referring to him as “a real gem of a man.”

The scandal has inspired a variety of satirical content, with some users humorously launching “Baltasar 400” branded sex pills in his “honour.”

Additionally, several videos and songs mocking the scandal have emerged, with users creating memes and parody songs to add to the online frenzy.

The scandal underscores the serious ramifications of misconduct in public office and has raised questions about privacy and ethical behavior within government institutions.
