A Georgia driver has been arrested for repeatedly trying to run over a jogger after she said, ‘good morning,’ according to police.

The unidentified victim claimed that Jesse Davis, 21, tried to hit her with his car three times after she greeted him on July 19.

‘He got into a vehicle, and for whatever reason he attempted to strike her with the vehicle while she was in the parking lot,’ Sergeant Eric Smith of Cobb County Police Department told WSB-TV.

According to a criminal warrant, Davis got into his parked 2004 Nissan Sentra and drove directly toward the woman at a high speed.

The woman tried to flee to her home but was chased by Davis, where he intentionally drove at her a second time.

A recording of her call with police dispatcher shows the victim hid behind a dumpster to call 911.

‘Are you somewhere safe that he can’t hit you with his car?’ the dispatcher asked. ‘Yeah, I’m behind the garbage can,’ the woman whispered in reply.

According to the warrant, Davis allegedly yelled profanities while the woman hid, and attempted to drive into her a third time before fleeing the area.

Davis eventually hit a parked car before crashing into a light post, causing injuries to his face.

‘He had struck another vehicle as he was leaving the complex. He finally ended up colliding with a light pole and at that point, officers located him there.’

Police said the victim’s ability to recite Davis’s license plate helped them to track his car down.

Neighbor Lloydethan White, said he witnessed the situation, and that Davis almost hit his car while chasing the victim down.

‘I think it’s wrong that a woman has to fear for her life,’ White said, ‘and she’s just trying to go about her normal day and workout.’

Davis was arrested and taken to Cobb County Jail, where he’s being held on $5,720 bond on aggravated assault and hit-and-run charges, according to jail records.

The motive behind the alleged attack remains unclear.

Police have not said whether Davis and the woman had any interactions beyond the ‘polite’ greeting before he got into his car.

The Daily Mail reached out to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office for comment.
