Just when it appeared peace was finally returning to the family of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, fresh trouble has erupted following the emergence of a man called Wofa Yaw Opoku, who is claiming to be the only legimate uncle of the late musician.
Wofa Yaw Opoku was spotted on Monday, November 3, 2025, shortly after the family’s appearance at the Manhyia Palace, where they met Otumfuo’s Saamanhene over the invocation of Ntam Kɛseɛ by Lumba’s sister, Ernestina Fosuh.

Speaking passionately to the media after the meeting, he insisted that there would be no funeral for Daddy Lumba until the family sees the original autopsy report.
According to him, too many unexplained issues surround the musician’s death, and the family must know what truly caused it before proceeding with any funeral arrangements.
He explained that most of the current confusion in the family began while he was abroad, but now that he has returned, things will not continue as they have. “I travelled for some time, that’s why all these things have been happening. But now I’m back, and things won’t go on like that,” he stated firmly.
He went further to also challenged the authority of Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, the man currently leading funeral preparations, claiming that he is not a direct uncle of Daddy Lumba as the public has been made to believe. “His family line is entirely different from ours,” he explained. “I am Lumba’s direct uncle because his late mother was my elder sister. When Lumba was alive, he used my name in a song and always called me his only uncle whenever he saw me,” he added.
He further accused the Abusuapanin of acting out of selfish interest, particularly in the way he has been distributing funeral invitations without consulting the rightful members of the family.
The visibly angry uncle emphasized that he is not afraid of anyone and will stand firm until the truth is uncovered. “I’m not afraid of anybody. The funeral can’t happen until the autopsy report is seen by the family,” he declared.
