Former Ghana Football Association Vice President Fred Pappoe has backed newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz to guide Ghana through a challenging 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Queiroz, who replaces Otto Addo on a short-term four-month deal, was officially unveiled in Accra on Thursday, signaling the start of an intense preparation period. Speaking after the ceremony, Pappoe acknowledged the limited time available but expressed confidence in the Portuguese coach’s experience and leadership qualities.

He described Queiroz as a mature and disciplined figure with the pedigree to handle high-pressure situations, adding that his humility and commanding presence make him well-suited for the role. Pappoe also called for unity and support for the new coach as Ghana prepares for the global showpiece.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face Mexico and Wales in upcoming friendlies before heading into the tournament. Drawn in Group L, Ghana will compete against England, Croatia, and Panama, aiming to improve on recent World Cup performances and progress beyond the group stage.
