Ghanaian media personality Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay, has opened up on a difficult experience she faced early in her journalism career.

Speaking at the AYA Women’s Summit on June 30, 2025, Delay who said she began her media journey at just 17 years old, recounted how Fred Nuamah once sacked her from Adom FM.

According to Delay, she hosted her show during the midnight hours, working from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m., but was not officially recognised as a staff member, something that eventually led to her dismissal.

“I first came to radio when I was 17. I worked with Live FM… I worked with Adom FM for a year. On Adom, I used to come on air at 12 midnight and close at 4 AM. I never got paid because I wasn’t considered a worker until one Mr. Fredrick Nuamah sacked me that my service wasn’t needed there,” she said.

Delay went on to describe how the abrupt dismissal negatively affected her and caused her to take a break from the media.

“The radio dream was cut short for a while until I came back on the radio in 2005 when Top Radio relaunched their station… I stayed there for 2 years, and Oman FM came for me. I worked there for nine years.

“There was a guy, Rex Annang who introduced me to television. Years before I had gone for an audition at TV3 that was how I was with Rex who was one of the guys who did the audition,” he added.

She also narrated how she transitioned into television, giving out credit to a key personality who helped guide her into that path.
