Late Daddy Lumba's first wife, Akosua Serwaa has initiated legal action against Odo Broni Late Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa has initiated legal action against Odo Broni

Following the announcement of the final burial ceremony of the late Ghanaian Highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, controversies have emerged surrounding the funeral rites.

On October 8, 2025, the family of the late Highlife legend officially announced the date of the musician’s funeral.

Following the announcement, a new court document has surfaced online, in which Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, is seeking a court order to place an interlocutory injunction on the funeral rites.

In a writ of summons dated October 2, 2025, Akosua Serwaa (plaintiff) also made some allegations against the family head, Kofi Owusu (1st defendant), and Odo Broni (2nd defendant).

Daddy Lumba’s burial date set for December 6

According to her, she has been excluded from all preparations for the musician’s burial and final funeral rites, scheduled for December 6, 2025.

She has claimed that the family head, Kofi Owusu, specifically informed her that she would not be allowed to perform the widowhood rites of the late Highlife legend.

The writ also alleged that following Daddy Lumba’s death, Odo Broni surfaced, claiming to be married to the late singer and to have had children with him.

According to the plaintiff, the family head has expressed an intention to permit Odo Broni to perform the widowhood rites, a move Akosua Serwaa has argued is unlawful since she believes Odo Broni was never legally married to the deceased.

She further alleged that both defendants, the family head and Odo Broni, have proceeded with funeral arrangements without her knowledge or involvement and have even printed invitation letters bearing Odo Broni’s contact information.

Akosua Serwaa, in the 21-page document, is therefore praying for the court to grant her these four reliefs:

*Declare her as the only surviving spouse of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu (Daddy Lumba).

*Declare that she alone has the legal right to perform his widowhood rites.

*Restrain the first defendant, Kofi Owusu, from recognising or dealing with the second defendant, Priscilla Ofori Atta (Odo Broni), as a spouse of the deceased.

*Restrain Odo Broni from publicly presenting herself as the surviving wife of the late musician.
