The second “Cuban Boxing Night” in Varadero will not only feature title fights, but also a very special moment for Cuban boxing. Four highly talented young athletes will make their professional debuts on November 29, 2025 – a further step in the opening up of Cuban boxing and a sign of the dawn of a new generation.
Alejandro Claro Fiz, Saidel Horta, Nelson Williams, and Keylor García, four outstanding talents, will enter the professional ring for the first time. The 24-year-old Alejandro Claro Fiz will compete in the flyweight division. He is a two-time bronze medalist at the IBA World Championships, a two-time Cuban champion, and a participant in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Just a few days ago, he was named the best boxer at an international tournament in the Seychelles, where he also won gold.
In the featherweight division, Saidel Horta will make his debut. The 23-year-old won the silver medal at the 2023 IBA World Championships, is a two-time Cuban champion, and also represented his country at the 2024 Olympic Games. His elegant, precise boxing style made him one of Cuba’s most popular boxers even as an amateur.
Nelson Williams, 22, brings tremendous power to the cruiserweight division as a three-time Cuban champion. The physically strong boxer with an explosive style now wants to prove his dominance in the professional ranks. Keylor García, also 22, a national light heavyweight champion, completes the quartet.
This move was made possible by Flavio Oleaga Mirabal, matchmaker at AGON Sports & Events, who played a crucial role in enabling the four talented boxers to launch their professional careers on Cuba’s biggest boxing stage.
“These guys represent the future of Cuban boxing,” says Oleaga Mirabal. “They’ve proven their class at the highest amateur level, and now the next chapter begins. Their professional debut in Varadero is not only an important step for their careers but also for Cuban boxing as a whole.”
With four debutants and established stars like Erislandy Álvarez, Lázaro Álvarez, and Moussa Gholam, the “Cuban Boxing Night” marks another milestone in the international resurgence of professional boxing on Cuban soil.
