Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Adentan, Ebenezer Doku, has dismissed claims that New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, was endorsed by 220 former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) who served under the NPP between 2017 and 2024.

Addressing the media on Monday, June 23, 2025, Doku clarified that the meeting involving the former MMDCEs was convened by Kennedy Agyapong and did not result in any formal endorsement.

“He called us; we didn’t go to Ken. He invited us to meet him, and he gave us his message. Other speakers also spoke at the meeting. He was cordial with us, we all met, wined, dined, and then left. There was no endorsement as is being claimed today.”

“We did not tell him we would give him our support. The fact that we did not respond should tell you we have a candidate we are supporting,” he emphasised.

The former MMDCEs have since publicly declared their support for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections, ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
