Former Ghanaian boxer, Michael Ayitey Okine, popularly known as Ayitey Powers, has been spotted leading a street evangelism session on the streets of Accra.

In a video circulating on social media, the 45-year-old former cruiserweight champion was seen preaching to pedestrians and motorists.

His public preaching drew attention from bystanders, many of whom recognized the once-fiery boxer now sharing a message of repentance and faith.

Ayitey Powers’ appearance as a street preacher comes weeks after he made headlines over a dispute with the National Sports Authority (NSA) boss, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, following the suspension of boxing activities in the country.

The NSA temporarily halted all sanctioned bouts after the tragic death of Ghanaian boxer Ernest Akushey, also known as Bahubali, who passed away on September 23, 2025, days after a professional fight.

The decision angered several promoters, including Powers, who accused the Authority of acting without proper consultation. The disagreement has since been resolved after reconciliation between the two parties.

Ayitey Powers, who turned professional in September 2000, enjoyed a 17-year career, recording 22 wins (18 by knockout), 25 losses (7 by knockout), and one draw in 48 bouts.

He became one of the most recognizable names in Ghanaian boxing, known for his rivalry with Bukom Banku and his flamboyant personality inside and outside the ring.
