Forget about coaching Black Stars and focus on Sudan – Kwami Sefa Kayi tells Kwasi Appiah

Veteran journalist Kwami Sefa Kayi has cautioned the head coach of Sudan, James Kwasi Appiah, against considering the Black Stars coaching job.

He noted that, given the controversies surrounding the Black Stars and the challenges the team is facing, it would be prudent for Appiah not to accept the role if it is offered to him.

The Kokrokoo Morning Show host expressed his delight with the performance of Kwasi Appiah’s Sudan team, who have secured qualification for the 2025 AFCON for the first time in 12 years.

Speaking on Peace FM, Sefa Kayi warned Kwasi Appiah against returning as Black Stars head coach in the future.

“I am very happy for Kwasi Appiah. There is no way for him to return to coach the Black Stars. What at all is he coming to do? He should focus on his Sudan job. I even wish they make it to the finals for him to also enjoy,” he said in Twi.

This caution comes after Ghana was left at the bottom of Group F with just three points, recording three losses and three draws in six matches played during the AFCON qualifiers.

In Group F, Angola and Sudan qualified, while Ghana and Niger failed to progress to the main competition.

It marks the first time in 21 years that Ghana has failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Otto Addo’s role has come under intense scrutiny, with some suggesting Kwasi Appiah as a potential replacement in the future.
