    •  Comes after rapid rise in the NRL

By MICHAEL PONTICELLO FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA

    Published: 22:51 EDT, 23 April 2026 | Updated: 23:17 EDT, 23 April 2026

Robert Toia has announced his engagement to girlfriend Beau in a heartfelt Instagram post.

The Sydney Roosters centre shared the news alongside a series of photos of the couple, set to One Less Lonely Girl by Justin Bieber playing in the background.

‘I thank God everyday for you, can’t wait to change your last name,’ Toia wrote.

Toia, 21, went public with his relationship in May 2025 when he published a photo on Instagram, which was coupled with the caption ‘My best friend’.

The Queensland representative was then joined by Beau at the 2025 Dally M Medal ceremony.

Now the couple have made their engagement public, posting photos from their party packed with friends, family and loved ones.

His post announcing the news has since received messages of congratulations by members of the wider rugby league community.

‘Congrats toko,’ Parramatta Eels centre Will Penisini and Panthers outside back Paul Alamoti both posted.

Toia’s Sydney Roosters teammates Benaia Ioelu, Xavier Va’a and Siua Wong also commented on the post, to wish the happy couple all the best.

Toia’s engagement comes after he produced one of the most rapid rises in modern rugby league, going from debutant to representative player within a single season.

He made his NRL debut in Round 1, 2025 and has already played 27 games, scoring 10 tries for the Sydney Roosters.

Remarkably, Toia was selected for Queensland after just 10 NRL appearances, becoming one of the least experienced players to debut in State of Origin in decades.

He went on to play all three Origin matches in 2025, contributing two try assists and 10 tackle breaks during the series win.

Toia also earned international honours with Tonga in the same year and capped his breakout campaign by winning the 2025 Dally M Rookie of the Year.

The 21-year-old is set to again take to the field for the Roosters, against the St George Illawarra Dragons on ANZAC Day.
