Black Stars coach Otto Addo
Ghanaian football fans have criticiSed Black Stars head coach Otto Addo for picking Manchester City midfielder Rodri as his number one choice during the 2024 Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Best Awards.
According to them, Addo choosing Jude Bellingham as his number two choice and placing Vinicius Jr in number three shows that he lacks an in-depth understanding of player performance.
They described the choices as bizarre, as Vinicius, in their view performed better than both Bellingham and Rodri.
They chided the coach and indicated that it is not surprising he is struggling to achieve success with the Black Stars.
Others called for his dismissal as Black Stars coach based on how he makes choices and decisions, even in awards voting.
About the 2024 FIFA Best Awards
Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior won the 2024 edition of the FIFA Best Player Award held on December 17, 2024.
The winger garnered 48 points to beat off competition from Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who had 43 points.
Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal, Lamine Yamal, Lionel Messi, Toni Kroos, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe occupied the third to ninth positions, respectively.
