Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation

Kofi Adams has been nominated as the Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation set to serve in the John Dramani Mahama-led government.

The nomination was announced in a statement released on January 21, 2025, by the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Adams will appear before the Appointments Committee of Parliament for vetting before being approved to assume the role.

If approved, Kofi Adams will replace former sports minister Mustapha Ussif, becoming the 27th minister to serve in the office since 1978.

Here are five facts about Kofi Adams:

1. Kofi Adams was born in Teteman in the Jasikan District of the Oti Region.

2. He is a Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency. He assumed office in 2021 and is set for his second term in Parliament.

3. He previously served as Deputy General Secretary, National Youth Organizer, and Campaign Coordinator for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

4. He previously served as a spokesperson And Director Of Public Affairs late president Jerry John Rawlings.

5. He is a huge fan of boxing and has always advocated for more support for the sport.
