From L to R: Joshua, Okyeame Kwame and King Promise on the red carpet From L to R: Joshua, Okyeame Kwame and King Promise on the red carpet

The red carpet is a place where stars either shine or stumble when it comes to fashion.

At the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, held at the Grand Arena, several celebrities brought bold statements to the red carpet, but not all were hits.

While many dazzled with glamorous looks, a few missed the mark with outfits that either felt too casual, overly theatrical, or simply out of place for such a high-profile event.

Here are five Ghanaian celebrities whose red-carpet choices raised more eyebrows than applause.

    Keche (Joshua)

Joshua of Keche fame, stirred online buzz with an outfit that defied red-carpet expectations. He sported a black singlet layered under a shiny gold-toned long-sleeved shirt, which he left unbuttoned.

He completed the look with flared black pants and dark sunglasses.

In an interview, Joshua revealed that the entire outfit was thrifted from Kantamanto.

While the look had personality, critics have argued that it lacked the polish and sophistication typically associated with red carpet fashion.

    Okyeame Kwame

Never one to shy away from a bold statement, Okyeame Kwame showed up in a pharaoh-inspired ensemble that looked straight out of a historical epic.

His outfit featured gold and royal blue fabrics, elaborate metallic details, and a towering regal headdress with a cobra motif.

Though visually striking, the look came off as more costume party than red carpet worthy. While his intention to pay homage to African royalty was clear, it didn’t quite align with the refined elegance usually expected at the TGMAs.

    King Promise

Known for his effortless cool, King Promise took a laid-back approach to the red carpet. He wore blue denim jeans, an ash-coloured jacket, and added a splash of colour with a wine-coloured flying tie. Accessories included dark sunglasses and a round cap.

While stylish in a streetwear sense, the outfit lacked the formality and flair usually expected at such a star-studded event. It was a missed opportunity to elevate his fashion game for the occasion.

    Archipalago

Archipalago arrived in an all-white ensemble that leaned more toward club night than red carpet. He wore a white vest, white jeans, and white Air Force sneakers, paired with dark sunglasses and a black cap.

His Gucci belt was prominently displayed, adding to the party-ready vibe.

While clean and coordinated, the outfit lacked the sophistication typically required for a red-carpet appearance, coming off as overly casual.

    Kojo Blak

Kojo Blak opted for a coffee-brown outfit, featuring matching pants and a jacket layered over a white shirt. He added a flying tie in the same brown shade, along with dark sunglasses and a newsboy cap.

Surprisingly, he completed the look with a backpack, a rare and questionable choice for such an event.

While the colour coordination showed some thought, the overall styling, and particularly the backpack, felt out of place for a formal red carpet.
