Wofa Samuel Armah, also known as Kofi Nyan, is a 49-year-old fisherman who was arrested for the brutal rape of a 13-year-old girl. He justified his actions by claiming it was a punishment for the girl allegedly stealing 800 Ghana Cedis from him.

During the assault, which was witnessed by a crowd in a ghetto, he told the victim she had to endure the sexual act as a form of repayment. He calculated the rape at a rate of 200 Ghana Cedis per hour, stating he would continue until he had “recovered” the full amount, despite her pleas for him to stop so she could find the money to repay him. Some bystanders encouraged him, while others were appalled.

The victim has been taken to the hospital for examination and treatment, and while the main suspect is in custody, four accomplices are currently on the run.
