Gregory Afoko has been spotted for the first time since his release from the Nsawam Medium Prison, after nearly ten years in detention.

He was granted bail after meeting the court’s conditions, which included a GH¢500,000 bail bond and two sureties.

Afoko had been arrested in 2015 for his alleged involvement in the murder of Adams Mahama, the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, who was attacked with a substance believed to be acid.

Afoko’s co-accused, Asabke Alangdi, was sentenced to death in 2023 for the murder, but Afoko remained in detention while his case proceeded.

His release comes after a prolonged legal battle and several unsuccessful bail attempts, marking a significant development in the high-profile case.
