GHASALC has officially launched the 2025 GHASALC Industry Games

The Ghana Association of Savings and Loans Companies (GHASALC) has officially launched the 2025 GHASALC Industry Games under the theme “Building Bonds Beyond Banking.”

The annual sporting event seeks to foster teamwork, wellness, and collaboration among players in Ghana’s savings and loans sector as well as institutions across the broader non-bank financial industry.

The initiative offers participants an opportunity to relieve stress, promote physical fitness, and enhance overall employee well-being, while also building trust, friendships, and professional networks within the financial ecosystem.

This year’s games are scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Elwak Sports Stadium in Accra, with Bayport Savings and Loans serving as the event’s headline sponsor.

Speaking at the official media launch in Accra, Akwasi Aboagye, Managing Director of Bayport Savings and Loans, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to making the games a permanent fixture on the industry’s calendar.

“We want to use this platform to nurture impactful and inclusive growth within the sector,” Aboagye stated. “Bayport is committed to ensuring that the Industry Games are not just a one-off event, but a lasting tradition that promotes unity and collaboration.”

The GHASALC Industry Games, which were suspended in 2017 due to unforeseen challenges, are making a comeback with renewed enthusiasm and broader participation.

This year’s edition will feature a variety of activities including soccer, volleyball, draughts, Ludo, sack races, penalty shootouts, musical chairs, spoon relays, and other fun, competitive games designed to encourage teamwork and camaraderie.

Comprehensive plans for a successful event

Chairman of the 2025 GHASALC Industry Games Planning Committee, Jacob Idan, outlined a detailed roadmap to ensure a successful event.

He explained that the program has been designed to deliver a balance of physical activity, networking, and collaboration. “By the end of the games, we expect all participants to have engaged in active bonding, rigorous exercise, and meaningful professional interaction,” he said.

In his remarks, Mr. Tweneboah Koduah Boakye, CEO of the Ghana Association of Savings and Loans Companies, expressed gratitude to Bayport for partnering with GHASALC to make the 2025 Games possible.

He commended the industry for its resilience amid economic headwinds, digital transformation, and regulatory reforms, noting that despite these challenges, savings and loans companies continue to serve millions of Ghanaians and support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Boakye confirmed that all 26 savings and loans companies and 11 finance houses have registered to participate in the 2025 edition.

“The GHASALC Industry Games will continue to serve as a platform for fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and networking among players in Ghana’s financial sector,” he said.

A celebration of unity and wellness

As the countdown begins to the 2025 GHASALC Industry Games, anticipation is building across the financial sector. The event promises not only a day of spirited competition but also a celebration of unity, wellness, and shared purpose — truly living up to its theme: “Building Bonds Beyond Banking.”
