An impatient McDonald’s customer faces a jail sentence after throwing hot coffee on a worker in a fit of rage.

Casharra Brown, 49, visited a McDonald’s restaurant in Buena Vista Township, Michigan in early November 2025 when she began arguing with a female staffer.

A video recorded by another customer showed Brown yelling about waiting ‘over an hour’ for her order, which included food and a coffee.

The employee accused Brown of leaving the restaurant after placing her order, which she denied.

Brown was told that her money would be refunded for the food within 48 hours and was given the coffee she had ordered.

Brown then ripped the lid off the coffee and tossed the scalding hot liquid on the employee as she walked away, leaving the staffer screaming in pain.

It’s unclear how hot the the coffee was, but the staffer did not report any serious injuries from the incident.

‘F*** you, b****!’ Brown said as she threw the coffee. ‘Catch that hot a** coffee!’

On November 4, the Buena Vista Police Department shared the video and said that they had identified the suspect.

By November 15, Brown was arraigned in Saginaw County Court. She was granted bond on the condition that she would not go to any McDonald’s restaurants.

On Monday, Brown pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of assault and battery, according to court documents.

Now that she has pleaded guilty, Brown will have to return to Michigan all the way from her home state of Georgia for her sentencing in March.

She faces a maximum sentence of 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.

The incident is the latest controversy involving McDonald’s coffee – a product that has sparked legal trouble before.

McDonald’s was sued in 1994 by a then-79-year-old woman who suffered third-degree burns after she accidentally spilled a coffee on herself.

The woman, Stella Liebeck, had to undergo skin grafts on her pelvic region and was permanently disfigured.

Throughout the course of the trial, it was revealed that McDonald’s was instructing franchisees to serve coffee at a temperature of 180 to 190 degrees Fahrenheit.

After Liebeck and the company settled out of court, McDonald’s now has more-secure lids on their coffee cups to prevent accidental spills.
