The Adabraka District Court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 to a 34-year-old trader accused of unlawfully wearing a military uniform to impersonate a member of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Joseph Baadah, who has been charged with using military accoutrements without lawful authority and falsely pretending to be a public officer, pleaded not guilty when he appeared before the court.

A report by graphic.com.gh on February 13, 2026, stated that the court admitted him to bail with sureties and ordered him to reappear on March 24, 2026.

Presenting the facts, Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana told the court that the complainant is WOI Fiamegu Mascow of the Military Police Detachment at Burma Camp.

According to the prosecution, Baadah, a resident of Agbogbloshie in Accra, was spotted on February 8, 2026, at about 6:00 pm at the Dispensary Gate of the 37 Military Hospital wearing a military camouflage uniform and slippers.

The prosecution said he had no rank, lanyard, name tag or shoulder badge, making him appear suspicious.

Subsequent checks established that Baadah was not a member of the Ghana Armed Forces as he had purported.

He was arrested and escorted to the Military Police Headquarters at Burma Camp for interrogation before being handed over to the Nima Divisional Police.

In his caution statement, Baadah admitted he was not a soldier and told investigators he wore the camouflage uniform to impress a nurse he had met at the hospital a day earlier.

The prosecution further informed the court that Baadah claimed he purchased the uniform from a second-hand clothes dealer, popularly known as “Fose Bale,” at the Kantamanto Market in Accra.

The case has been adjourned to March 24, 2026, for further hearing.
