FC Ashantigold ‘04 have announced that their Access Bank Division One League match-day 29 fixture against PAC Academy will be played behind closed doors.

The club confirmed the decision in an official statement released on Thursday, explaining that the measure was taken after consultations with the club’s board and relevant authorities over security and safety concerns surrounding the fixture.

According to the statement, Ashantigold believes the decision is necessary to ensure the safety of players, technical teams, match officials, club officials and everyone connected to the game.

The club acknowledged that football thrives on the passion and presence of supporters but stressed the importance of taking responsible decisions whenever circumstances demand it.

Ashantigold also admitted the development may disappoint supporters but emphasized that the move is aimed at maintaining order and protecting the interests of all stakeholders involved in the matchday encounter.

The Miners further thanked their supporters for their continued support and understanding ahead of the match-day 29 fixture which is slated for Sunday, May 10, at the Bekwai Gyamfi Park.
