Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has assured Leicester City supporters that his substitution against Birmingham City was precautionary, easing fears of a potential injury setback.

The 20-year-old, who has quickly become a fan favourite at the King Power Stadium, opened the scoring with a superb strike in the first half before Ricardo Pereira sealed a 2-0 win late on Friday night.

The result ended Birmingham’s unbeaten run in the Championship.

Issahaku, however, caused a brief scare when he went down clutching his knee and was replaced by defender Wout Faes.

Speaking to Sky Sports afterwards, the Black Stars forward dismissed any serious concerns.

“I am just going to say thank you to the medical team…it’s just a blessing to be back like this again and running again,” Fatawu Issahaku said.

“It’s a good feeling, and thank God. It’s just cramps, tired, match fitness, but getting there,” he added.

Leicester will be hoping the youngster maintains his fitness as they continue their strong start to the season.

He is expected to feature again when the Foxes travel to face Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium after the international break.
