Ashis is a Ghanaian entertainment pundit

Following the development where hundreds of Shatta Wale’s loyal fans stormed the EOCO headquarters in protest of his release, entertainment pundit and artiste manager Nana Poku Ashis has shared his thoughts on the potential impact the protest could have on the artiste’s ongoing investigations.

In a discussion on GhanaWeb’s X Space on Friday, August 22, 2025, Ashis noted that although the protest was peaceful, it could have serious implications for the ongoing investigation.

He explained that the protests can make the EOCO boss, Raymond Archer, feel the artiste is a threat in the ongoing investigation, adding that the law doesn’t deal with fan base but rather evidence.

“People are saying that because the crowd was huge, that is why they released him. No! It’s not the crowd; it is because they have done their job, and someone has secured a bail for him, and the sureties have come for him, and everything was checked. It has nothing to do with the SM boys who were outside. That can even make his case worse.

“That can make the prosecutor feel he is a threat… It was a show of love from his people, but that is not the law. The law doesn’t give respect for a show of love, it deals with issues,” he said

Ashis further noted that Shatta Wale’s release isn’t a result of fans who stormed the EOCO headquarters to show love for their artiste that day.

“Shatta Wale could be very innocent about the whole thing, but it is left with him and his lawyers to prove. It’s not up to the fans… None of us can prove anything because when it comes to matters of the law, it has nothing to do with how popular or huge you are,” he added.

Background

Shatta Wale was detained on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, after voluntarily appearing at the EOCO headquarters in Accra with his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo.

The inquiry centres on allegations of irregularities surrounding the luxury vehicle, which was earlier seized by authorities on suspicion of being connected to a wider financial scandal in the United States.
