Family of a mother-of-two who was allegedly stabbed to death over the weekend have broken their silence after her husband was charged with murder.

Nurse Carra Samantha Luke, 48, was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside a Taigum home in Brisbane‘s north about 12.30am on Saturday.

On Sunday, her husband Shane Scheikowski, 52, was charged with one count each of murder (domestic violence offence) and enter dwelling with intent.

Family remembered Ms Luke as a compassionate mother and devoted nurse in a statement released on Sunday.

‘Carra was a remarkable woman who touched countless lives with her warmth, generosity, and unwavering kindness,’ the family said, according to the Courier Mail.

‘A devoted mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunty and friend, she gave love so freely that everyone who knew her felt like part of her family.

‘Through her compassion and gentle spirit, she carried the power to comfort, encourage, and uplift others, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever.’

Ms Luke was reportedly found unresponsive by one of her daughters and could not be saved despite the best efforts of paramedics.

Hours later, police arrested Scheikowksi at an address in McDowall, a short drive southwest of the alleged murder scene, before releasing him without charge.

He was charged with Ms Luke’s murder after being arrested again on Sunday.

Daily Mail earlier revealed Scheikowski is a Brisbane car club member and specialty dog breed enthusiast who had known Ms Luke for almost two decades.

Nundah Doctors Surgery in Wavell Heights, where Ms Luke worked, posted a heartfelt tribute to their colleague.

‘A most empathic and caring human being, nurse, mother, and friend, Carra has been with us for 20 years and was the heart and soul of the practice,’ a statement posted on its website read.

‘She has cared for her patients and helped through the most difficult times with the greatest professionalism and dedication.

‘She is irreplaceable, and we will miss her every day.

‘She will always remain in our hearts here at the practice. To all our dear patients and friends of the practice, thank you for your support, care, and love.’

Ms Luke was known to people in her community as a devoted mother, a respected nurse and generous neighbour.

Crime scenes were established at the homes in Taigum and McDowall and forensic officers were seen scouring the Taigum address into Sunday.

The SES also supported the search of a nearby aged care facility during the afternoon, which was then declared a third crime scene.

Ms Luke’s family said her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched as a nurse, mother and giving member of her community.

‘Though her time with us was far too short, she filled every moment with care and an open heart. Her dedication as a nurse was more than just a profession – it was a true reflection of who she was,’ they said.

‘Even in the midst of her own struggles, she found the strength to tend to the needs of others, embodying selflessness in every sense.

‘Her legacy is not only in the countless lives she healed, but in the love and light she brought to the world each day.

‘Though we grieve her passing deeply, we celebrate the beautiful soul we were so fortunate to know, and we carry her spirit forward in the kindness we show to one another.’

The family requested privacy and asked mourners to pay their respects by donating to the organisation RizeUp.

Scheikowski is set to front Brisbane Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
