Former WBO junior flyweight champ Shokichi Iwata (15-2, 12 KOs), 110, returned to action after his forfeiture of his belt to Puerto Rican Rene Santiago last March, and impressively scored a fine knockout of Mexican WBO#12 Edwin Cano (13-4-1, 4 KOs), 109.25, at 3:00 of the seventh round in a scheduled ten on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan. Iwata maintained the pressure from the start, and his right uppercut to the midsection was a haymaker that made Cano hear the fatal ten.

Promoter: Teiken Promotions.
