Crystal Palace striker, Eddie Nketiah

Former Asante Kotoko coach, Isaac Opeele Boateng has reacted to reports of striker Eddie Nketiah’s willingness to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.

Eddie Nketiah has been trending on social media alongside winger Callum Hudson-Odoi following the Black Stars’ 5–0 thrashing of the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Reacting to the reports that have taken over social media like wildfire, Coach Opeele Boateng said “emotionally” he is against the decision to welcome Eddie Nketiah to the team.

However, he stated the Crystal Palace striker will be needed for the big games ahead.

“If Nketiah says he is ready to play for Ghana. Me: Emotionally No. But we need him for big games so, I will say YES!” Isaac Opeele Boateng posted on his X page as sighted by GhanaWeb Sports.
