Former Black Stars player Ibrahim Merigah could not hold back his tears after former President John Dramani Mahama came to his aid and donated an amount of GH¢10,000 to help his recovery.

The unfortunate situation of the former Okwahu United player came to light after ace sports journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah, through his foundation, made some donations to him.

John Mahama, after learning of the situation, dispatched a team to make the donation and also promised that he would cover the full cost of his recovery.

A member of the delegation sent by John Mahama said, “We came to visit our father, who is a former Hearts of Oak, Black Stars, and Okwahu United player. Our former president, John Mahama, sent us here to talk to him and ask what he could do to help. He gave us a token to give to the family to start the treatment process and said that he would take care of the full cost of treatment.

We are praying to God to heal and strengthen him. This donation is just the beginning. We will come back to help when they go to the hospital.”

According to the ex-Ghana player, he has been bedridden for the past five months after suffering a mild stroke.

During his playing days, Ibrahim Merigah played for Accra Hearts of Oak, Okwahu United, and some other clubs. He also coached Okwahu United and Kaakyire FC.
