Former Ghana midfielder Kenneth Sarpong has condemned the country’s treatment of Black Stars captain Andre Ayew.
Speaking in an interview with Kessben FM, Kenneth Sarpong criticized the handlers of the Black Stars for freezing out Andre Ayew from the team.
Kenneth Sarpong noted that Ghana could have benefited with Andre Ayew’s presence on the team for the recent matches.
“A patriotic player like Andre Ayew does not deserve bad treatment,” he said.
“Andre Ayew being on the bench will not cause any problems at the Black Stars camp. His presence in the team will be extra motivation. He knows how to motivate players when the going gets tough. It will be better to have him back in the team,” he said.
Discussions continue over the Black Stars’ recent form following Ghana’s failure to win any of their two matches in the October international break.
The Black Stars drew and lost to Sudan in the doubleheader played on October 10 and October 15, in Ghana and Libya, respectively.
The Black Stars, who are in Group F, have two points from four matches, with Angola and Sudan in the first and second positions, respectively.
Ayew has been out of the Black Stars since June, missing out on both the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
