Former Ghana midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has kicked against calls for the sacking of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.

Black Stars coach Otto Addo has come under intense scrutiny after Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, with calls for his dismissal growing louder following the team’s inability to beat Chad in the September World Cup qualifier.

According to Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Otto Addo failed to qualify for the AFCON but he is currently making amends for his previous failure in the ongoing FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

He told GhanaWeb Sports in an interview that Otto Addo has a higher win percentage in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and cannot be sacked.

“We allowed him to continue after failing to qualify for the AFCON and he is now performing very well in the World Cup qualifiers so what will be the justification to sack him? We should allow him to complete what he is currently doing,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will face Central African Republic at Stade d’Honneur de Meknes at 16h00 GMT on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, before hosting Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium at 19: 00 GMT on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
