FC AshantiGold 04 midfielder Augustine Sosu could not hide his excitement after the Miners officially crowned their impressive Division One League campaign with victory in their coronation game against King Faisal on Sunday, May 17.
AshantiGold, who had already secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League after winning Zone Two of the Division One League, wrapped up the season with a narrow victory over the ‘Insha Allah’ lads at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi.
Captain Kwadwo Twumasi scored the decisive late goal to hand the Miners victory in front of their jubilant supporters during a colourful coronation ceremony.
Following the game, Black Satellites midfielder Augustine Sosu admitted he was overwhelmed with emotions after helping the club secure a return to the topflight.
The young midfielder also sent a confident message ahead of the club’s return to the Ghana Premier League next season.
“I’m very happy. I don’t even know what to do now. I’m overwhelmed,” Sosu said after the match.
“Yh, I will be playing the Premier League next season so everyone should watch out,” he added.
AshantiGold’s coronation weekend was marked by several activities in the Obuasi community, including clean-up exercises, a health walk, and a curtain-raiser match involving AshantiGold old players and Kumawood stars before the main game.
The Miners will now shift attention to preparations for life in the Ghana Premier League as they return to the topflight for the 2026/27 season.
