CEO of Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah, has said that artistes should not be stopped when they decide to leave a record label.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Kafui Dey on July 22, 2025, Richie explained that it’s natural for artistes to move on, and label owners should not try to hold them back.

When asked whether he often sees signs that point to the fact that an artiste may be planning to leave, Richie said he doesn’t wait for signs because he already knows it will eventually happen.

He compared it to personal relationships, saying it’s just a matter of time.

“I think the sense that I got eventually was that every artist has to leave. So, I don’t think of it; contemplating on whether they will leave or not. They have to leave at some point. Like let’s be honest, even in marriages about 50% end in divorce and the other 50% end in death,” Richie said.

He explained that just like all relationships, the connection between a record label and an artiste also ends at some point.

According to him, when the time comes for an artiste to move on, it should be respected.

“So, every relationship comes to an end. So, you don’t have to hold on to an artist. It’s a beautiful ride when you and the artist have a long relationship, but when it’s time for the artist to do their own thing, it’s time for them to do their own thing,” he added.
