Evangelist Papa Shee has found himself in serious trouble following comments he recently made about the upcoming funeral of legendary Ghanaian musician, Daddy Lumba.
Papa Shee, who happens to be one of the individuals deeply entangled in the ongoing tensions surrounding the musician’s final rites, largely due to his close relationship with Lumba’s German-based wife, Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, recently publicly dismissed the officially announced funeral date.
According to Papa Shee, the funeral can never come off on December 13, 2025, despite the date being officially confirmed by the new funeral planning committee established by the Manhyia Palace and chaired by Dadiesoabahene.
In a video that has been circulating online, Papa Shee confidently stated that the December date is impossible because several of Daddy Lumba’s children are currently occupied with their final examinations.
He further alleged that others have issues such as expired passports and various personal complications, insisting that no one can try to organize the funeral on the 13th December date.
Papa Shee went on to claim that in his estimation, the most realistic time for the funeral would be somewhere in March 2026.
However, these remarks have not been taken lightly by the funeral planning committee. Responding swiftly, the chairman, Dadiesoabahene, publicly condemned Papa Shee’s statements, describing them as highly disrespectful.
Speaking to the media, he emphasized that no individual, regardless of their association with the family, has the authority to unilaterally announce a new date when the committee has not endorsed any changes.
He stressed that if Papa Shee or anyone else genuinely believed there was a need to adjust the funeral date, the proper approach would have been to engage the committee directly rather than circulating contradictory information to the public.
Dadiesoabahene urged Ghanaians to disregard any rumours about a date change, reaffirming that the committee is fully committed to organizing Daddy Lumba’s funeral on December 13, 2025, as originally scheduled.
At the moment, it remains unclear what actions, if any, will be taken against Evangelist Papa Shee for his controversial remarks.
