Athlete Eugene Amo-Dadzie has inked his name in the history books after becoming the second-fastest British sprinter of all time.

During the BFTTA Open in Lee Valley, Amo-Dadzie clocked a time of 9.87s in the 100 meters race to achieve this feat.

The athlete is now tied with fellow compatriot Linford Christie, who already lies second with an impressive run.

Apart from the British record, the timing also makes him joint-fifth on the European 100-meter all-time list, further cementing his legacy in the sport.

According to Sun Sport, Amo-Dadzie is a 33-year-old who works full-time as a chartered accountant.

He didn’t come through the junior ranks like his rivals, he picked up athletics at the age of 26 after university.

His introduction to the elite end of sprinting only came with a blistering 100-meter mark of 9.93 seconds in Austria that shocked everyone.

That stunning showing booked his World Athletics Championships spot in Budapest, and his time has only been officially bettered by three men in British history.
