Moderator of the EPCG, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd) Moderator of the EPCG, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd)

Right Reverend Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd), Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) Saturday reminded those in leadership positions to reflect on the past and their future leadership styles.

He said the change of political power in the country was a unique opportunity for leaders to make a reflection to learn from past mistakes and chart a new path towards a brighter future which all Ghanaians desired.

This was contained in a New Year message by Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Ho.

He stated that as the new year would begin with a significant transition of political power, Ghanaians should have faith and trust God that He would take the country to a higher level.

“Let us approach this new year with a sense of hope, renewal of our attitude to work and expectations.

“We should desist from the criticisms and challenges of the past and rather learn from the successes and setbacks of the past,” he stated.

The Moderator advised the incoming administration that as they embarked on a new journey, they should not forget to build on any good foundation laid by their predecessors adding “replicate the success and good initiatives that have benefitted the nation.”

Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko whilst advising Ghanaians to hold their leaders accountable also encouraged them to support them with good ideas, prayers, wisdom and constructive feedback.

“As we navigate the complexities of our national life let us not forget that we are in all this together so let us strive to be good citizens, caring neighbour’s, love one another and seek the common good of all citizens.

“So let us all join hands with our leaders to work together to build a nation that is just, equitable and prosperous for all of us,” he said.

He also advised them to eschew greed, selfishness and wanton looting of the national coffers and learn from past mistakes and implement measures to correct them with integrity.

The Moderator called on those who would assume political leadership to be guided by principles of justice, equity, fairness, accountability, compassion and righteousness.

He urged Christians to try to be a nation that loved and feared God, honoured his word, and seek His wisdom in all they do.

“Let us seek the blessing of God always and His presence to be with us as we move into 2025 and beyond,” he noted.

The Moderator reminded Ghanaians that “unless the Lord builds the house the builders labour in vain and unless the Lord watches over the city guards watch in vain.”

He called on Christians to continue praying for the nation for God to bless and guide it into a brighter future.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko thanked God for the peace He bestowed on the country during and after the last General election and wished all Ghanaians a happy and prosperous new year.
