Lawyers representing Ghanaian gospel musician, Empress Gifty, are demanding a retraction and public apology from Nana Agradaa following a defamatory statement made against them.

In a letter dated June 16, 2025, and sighted by GhanaWeb, Empress Gifty’s lawyer, Patrick Tawiah-Amprofi, is demanding that Agradaa apologise for referring to him as a “so-called lawyer.”

The document referenced a viral social media video in which Agradaa was seen addressing Patrick Tawiah-Amprofi as a “so-called lawyer” after their first court appearance.

“The attention of our firm has been drawn to media posts on your social media handles, made by yourself on the 11th and 12th of June, 2025, in which you referred to a member of our firm, Patrick Tawiah-Amprofi, as a ‘so-called lawyer’ and used other abusive language against him.

“Your reference to him as a ‘so-called lawyer’ is derogatory and defamatory to both his person and this law firm. We therefore demand that you retract and apologise to him using the same medium within seven days of receiving this letter,” the statement read.

Patrick Tawiah-Amprofi further warned that if Agradaa fails to comply within the stipulated time, he will take legal action.

“Please take notice that if you fail to retract and apologise as indicated above within seven days, we shall initiate legal proceedings against you,” the letter added.

Meanwhile, the Tema High Court, presided over by Justice P. Baffoe-Bonnie, has dismissed Agradaa’s attempt to strike out a GH¢20 million defamation lawsuit filed by gospel singer Empress Gifty.

Additionally, a GH¢6,000 fine was imposed on Agradaa for the delay caused by her legal team’s absence in court.
