Media personality Nana Frimpong Ziega has called for the empowerment of the Ghana AIDS Commission to enable it carry out HIV testing for victims involved in the alleged Russian man saga, to mitigate potential health risks.

Speaking in UTV’s United Showbiz on February 22, 2026, Nana Frimpong Ziega stressed the urgency of identifying and testing the affected women to prevent the possible spread of HIV.

“We should empower them so that in situations like this, we can identify the women and get them tested. It’s very dangerous because they have boyfriends and husbands, so they can infect them with the virus,” he said.

Citing statistics from the Ghana AIDS Commission, he disclosed that Ghana currently has 344,700 people living with HIV, with women forming the majority of cases.

“In Ghana, we have 344700 HIV patients with us and 68% are women. According to the Ghana AIDS Commission’s data statistics. 38% of them don’t know they have HIV and this is very dangerous,” he shared.

Nana Frimpong Ziega emphasised that empowering the Commission to act swiftly in such cases would help victims know their HIV status and reduce the risk of further transmission.

“We need to empower the Ghana AIDS Commission so that the victims of the Russian man can know their status,” he added.
