Gospel singer and Treasurer for Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bohyeba Victoria has urged her colleagues gospel musicians to make use of digital media in promoting their music.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Bohyeba Victoria explained that digital media is no longer a luxury, a driver for music promotion. She said it is sad to see gospel artistes still depending mostly on traditional platforms like radio and television to promote their songs.

According to her, secular artistes have taken full control of the digital space, using platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and streaming services to promote their music and connect with fans.

“Secular artistes are owning the digital space on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and other streaming platforms. They are constantly engaging audiences, pushing content, collaborating with influencers but you can’t say same for my brothers and sisters in the gospel fraternity,” she said.

She pointed out that in today’s digital world, being a big-name artiste is no longer necessary to be successful. What matters is understanding how the platforms work and staying consistent.

“The Internet has levelled the playing field. You don’t have to be a big name to be heard anymore. What you need is consistency, strategy, and understanding how the platforms work,” she stated.

Bohyeba Victoria also encouraged gospel artistes to think beyond just performing in church on Sundays. She said it’s important for them to start making smart moves to push their music, just like their secular counterparts.

“If you’re waiting for someone to ‘push’ you, you’ll be waiting forever. Start where you are, use your phone, post regularly, build your brand. The digital space gives you the power to be your own media house,” she said.
