Social media personality, Christford Affadu Danful, known as Ekow Black, has been granted bail in the sum of GH₵30,000 with two sureties.

He appeared before the Adabraka District Court on January 21, 2026, in connection with alleged domestic abuse and related offences. He is expected to return to court on February 10, 2026.

Danful had first appeared before the same court on January 16, 2026, where the presiding magistrate, Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo, ordered that he be remanded into police custody.

The case stems from an incident captured in a viral video in which Ekow was allegedly seen assaulting a woman.

The footage spread widely on social media, prompted public outrage, and led to his arrest by the Ghana Police Service.

Investigators are also examining claims that the suspect threatened to release intimate images of the woman involved, conduct that police said falls under sextortion.

Ekow Black was arrested on January 15, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team.

Police said initial findings point to a tense relationship between the suspect and the woman in the video, with repeated disputes.
