Ghanaian singer Efya has shed light on the vital role her mother, Nana Adwoa Awindor, has played in shaping her music career, both emotionally and professionally.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, Efya credited her mother as the cornerstone of her journey in music, revealing that her involvement has been instrumental since day one.

“Definitely my mum. I’m very grateful for her, she’s been a strong support system. She’s guided me through the business to make sure I’m well established. She’s very knowledgeable about everything we’re dealing with because this is also a business for us. I’m really glad I involved her in it,” Efya stated.

Born Jane Afia Awindor, the award-winning vocalist praised her mother not only for unwavering emotional encouragement but also for her strategic input in navigating the business aspects of the industry. She highlighted how her mother’s expertise continues to influence key decisions.

When asked about receiving support from peers in the music space, she shared her appreciation for fellow artists who have shown up for her over the years.

“Everybody has been supportive, I can’t nail it down for every time I’ve invited any artiste to come support me at the show, the people that show up for me and I’m very grateful. I’m supportive myself so it’s just the same way that I’ve been supportive to them, they are always supportive to me,” Efya averred.

She added, “I’m one of the artiste that a lot of people come through for and for that alone, I’m grateful for. I know that everybody is busy, everybody has their own lives they’re living aside the music, so when people make time for you, I just be grateful. I make sure that I let them know I’m grateful and also make sure I support them.”
