Veteran Ghanaian gospel musician Edward Akwasi Boateng has gotten himself embroiled in a legal battle with his estranged wife, Genevieve Osei Boateng, as she seeks a substantial share of a property he claims he built solely from his music earnings.
Akwasi Boateng, who married Genevieve Osei Boateng in 1999 and shares four children with her, revealed the shocking development during an interview.
According to the musician, his ex-wife has taken legal action demanding 50% ownership of his house.
The couple has been estranged for nearly five years. Despite this separation, his ex-wife argues that the property was constructed shortly after their marriage, thus entitling her to half of the asset.
Reacting to the situation, Edward Akwasi Boateng expressed his shock and disappointment at the claim.
He vehemently asserted that the house was funded entirely through his decades-long career as a musician.
He maintained that his estranged wife made no financial contribution to the property’s construction.
He further detailed the extensive financial support he provided throughout their marriage.
Including financing her travel abroad and purchasing vehicles for her use.
Adding to his surprise, Akwasi Boateng noted that his ex-wife currently owns her own house, which she allegedly built during their separation, making her pursuit of his long-held property even more baffling to him.
