The newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga East, Edmund Agboh, has pledged to lead with integrity, transparency, and a strong commitment to inclusive development.

Speaking during his confirmation ceremony, Agboh assured residents of a revitalised local government system anchored on accountability and innovation.

The event, brought together several dignitaries including the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Members of Parliament for Shai Osudoku and Dome-Kwabenya, traditional authorities, and party executives.

In a metrotvonline.com report, Agboh expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for entrusting him with the responsibility.

“Our journey ahead demands unity, accountability, and innovation. Together, we will revitalise local governance in line with the RESET agenda of our great party. There is the need for all stakeholders to work collaboratively in addressing the pressing development challenges within the municipality”, he stated.

Agboh acknowledged the persistent problem of inadequate funding and delays in the disbursement of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). To mitigate this, he announced plans to strengthen internally generated funds (IGF) through a more convenient and equitable revenue collection system designed to reduce leakages and improve efficiency.

On infrastructure, the MCE highlighted the rehabilitation of critical roads such as the Narhman-Musuku and Pure Water roads as a priority.

He added that the assembly will deploy its own machinery under the District Roads Improvement Project (DRIP), with newly appointed technical staff overseeing operations to ensure timely execution of works.

Addressing issues of market infrastructure and sanitation, Agboh revealed plans to modernize markets and lorry parks without displacing traders.

He also pledged to tackle water scarcity and poor sanitation by strictly enforcing National Sanitation Day activities and partnering with relevant agencies to improve public health outcomes.

On the issue of land protection, Agboh said his administration will collaborate with security agencies to clamp down on the illegal acquisition of state lands.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with Members of Parliament, traditional leaders, religious organizations, and civil society groups to build a united front for sustainable development in Ga East.
