The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have cut power to the Baba Yara Stadium due to an unpaid debt.
According to Joy Sports, the Baba Yara Stadium owes an amount of GH¢130,000, which remains unsettled despite calls for payment.
To compel the authorities to settle the debt, the ECG decided to disconnect the power supply, which will not be restored until payment is made.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority (NSA) have yet to respond to the reports.
In November 2024, the NSA announced that the renovation and rehabilitation works at the Baba Yara Stadium had been completed.
The former government faced criticism after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned the stadium from hosting Black Stars‘ African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
