Jean Mensa is Electoral Commission chairperson

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in the lead up to the Ayawaso East by-election.

In a statement dated February 6, 2026, and addressed to the General Secretaries of registered political parties, the Commission said the meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 am at its corporate head office in Accra.

The EC indicated that discussions during the meeting will focus solely on the conduct and organisation of the Ayawaso East by-election, urging political parties to limit their representation to two delegates each.

“Each Political Party is to be represented by two (2) persons only,” the statement emphasised.

The letter was signed by Dr Bossman Eric Asare, Deputy Chairperson responsible for Corporate Services, acting on behalf of the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa.

The by-election comes after the death of Naser Toure Mahama, the constituency’s Member of Parliament, leaving the Ayawaso East seat unrepresented.
